Happy Birthday, Bob

Love 'im or hate 'im, his influence on modern music cannot be denied. Bob Dylan is 65 today.

Dylan, along with Joan Baez, Kris Kristofferson, and Ray Charles are the soundtracks of my childhood. My mother kept me out of school one morning to procure Dylan concert tickets. I've seen him in concert about 3 times.

Did anyone think they guys (Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Dylan, Baez) would live to be this old?!

Amazing...65 years old. I've seen him in concert a couple of times, the first one being in '65 in Baltimore, MD. It was a fantastic concert...full electric amplification and little folk influence. Mixed reaction from the audience, but it was thrilling to be there.

Just saw a PBS, two-part special on Dylan which was wonderful. I'll tell you who still looks just beautiful and who has the most appealing of personalities: Joan Baez.

Dylan came across as a selfish kind of dude, but an impressive, still likable artist all the same.

Lin: Cool story about seeing Dylan in 1965.

April: Well, his voice IS grating, it's his voice I don't care for, but many have gotten famous sounding all nasal and out of tune like him (for example, Tom Petty).

Kelly C. Butler: He probably didn't get his Part D done by the mid-May deadline!

Don Wood: That's just it - nobody understands Bob Dylan. I think it's part of his mystique! ;)

I remember when the mantra was "Never trust anyone over 30". I guess it's now extended to 70. I'm nervous when I see them on stage. Nowadays instead of groupies, they have paramedics and defibrillators waiting for them backstage. They fall off stage ... and out of trees (Keith Richards)! It's a bit sad, frankly.
