Bono? Ugh. George Clooney? Give me a break! Ellen DeGenerate? Yuck.

But then came the Rain

... not to be confused with Rain Man, I'm sure. "Definitely need some kimche ... definitely kimche..."

I'm learning lots about Korean pop culture and music from your blog, Junebee. Very cool.

The article in Korea Times mentions "masculine charm." Sorry, I don't see it at ALL.

He is so cute! I can just see the girls swooning.... and I think he'll be VERY big in the U.S.

{Personally, I don't much care for pop music....}

Bono and Clooney exceed the recommended daily allowance for sanctimony. Watch for Clooney to run for Calif. governor in the next 10 years and Pres in 20. Bono would try but he is not an American citizen...yet.

Ellen is acceptable. Her humor is not fall-down funny, but she doesn't insult people or put anyone down, as far as I know. I am not a popular culture expert, having disconnected my television years ago. So I am dated. But I recall her humor being primarily directed at herself. This is rare nowadays.

Not sure who Rain is but he is obviously quite pleased with himself.

Liz: I know, the name just BEGS to be made into a malaprop!

Stringman: Really, I'm a novice in the J- and K-pop fields. There's so much out there. I am sure SNL or MADTV will come out with a Rain/Rainman spoof if Rain hits the big time in the U.S.

Black Feline: Chicks have been fainting at rock concerts since time immemorial. But Rain is totally cute ;)

Sandra: Yes, I think "boyish charm" would probably be more accurate. Rain obviously takes pains to portray an adolescent image, so "masculine charm" is probably stretching it a bit.

Wendy: I don't usually either, but somehow I just don't think it's conducive for Branch and Blossom to listen to Metallica, G & R, Sex Pistols, Aerosmith, LA Guns, etc. (my music of choice). So I try to find something more innocuous. Besides, hard rock/metal makes me yearn to actually have a life. Which I don't.

J: I know, the list is long, I just mentioned a few.

Don Wood: I know, I'm just about out of American pop culture myself. I never watch prime time TV. Somehow, pop culture is infinitely more interesting when it comes from another country.

wow, i'm clueless about this rain guy. obviously i'm so out of the loop. i think bono is attractive--but he's so two years ago. and yes, george clooney is old news too. i hate it when he puts on his serious face. it's like he knows he's so hot and women love him.
